A rare and important silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel dish of oval form with two scrolling openwork handles, resting on four enamelled ball feet. The interior centred with a miniature of a young maiden in traditional Russian attire and two swans on either side of her. The inner sides of the tray decorated with stylised scrolling foliage rendered in shaded varicoloured enamel over a light blue ground. The reverse is engraved with a presentational inscription: 1875 C M G 1900 / XXV. Contained in a contemporary fitted case.
