A composite icon with the image of the Mother of God of Kazan supported by two angels in the upper part, below a group of selected saints (upper row left to right, female saints): St Mary Magdalene, St Anna, St Catherine and St Ephrosinya. The second tier consists of male saints only: St Dmitry, St Antipa, St John the Baptist, St John the Theologian, St Nil Stolbensky and St Panteleymon. The icon is painted in the old traditional style of the Russian Renaissance with elongated figures on a gold leaf background; it is encased in a heavy gauge silver repoussé and engraved oklad with a floral border design, haloes embellished with gilding.
