The icon shows an extended version of the Deesis (Greek “prayer” or “supplication”): in the centre is Christ Pantocrator enthroned, surrounding Him are the archangels Michael and Gabriel, the Virgin, St John the Baptist, and two male saints. The icon is encased in a silver-gilt chased and repoussé oklad with rayed halos.
