Nielloed silver cigarette case, the cover with a troika in a landscape, surrounded by dense scrolling foliage. Examples of Gubkin’s wares are in all major collections including the Kremlin Armoury Museum in Moscow.

 

Merchant Ivan Semionovich Gubkin founded a workshop in 1841. His sons Sergei and Dmitry Ivanovich continued the business. The firm was one of the largest of its kind.
