A silver picture frame of rectangular form, enamelled with alternating stripes of black and translucent orangey yellow over a guilloché ground, the colours of the Russian Imperial coat of arms, as well as the ribbon of the Order of Saint George, the highest military decoration of the Russian Empire. The rectangular aperture is decorated with a beaded border; the other edge is chased with a reed and ribbon pattern. The ivory back is fitted with a scrolling, slender silver strut. Struck on the outer edge with Fabergé hallmark in Cyrillic, workmaster’s initials, 91 zolotniks silver standard, and scratched inventory number 21498; further marked on the strut.
