A Rare and Impressive Russian Empire-style ormolu mantle clock surmounted by a free-standing sculptural group comprising a bust of Peter the Great mounted on a column with a commemorative inscription in Cyrillic “Deceased in the year 1725” and a shield bearing the coat of arms of Russia leaning against it. The column is flanked by an allegorical group of an angel, mother and two children, with symbols of Peter the Great’s learning and building activities. The front of the pedestal with a circular clock dial superimposed on a trophy of war, the ends and the corners of the pedestal applied with similar trophies, the base with bold foliate border.
