Baron Alexander von Bilderling (1846-1912) was a Russian military general of Baltic German descent, noted for his role in the Russian-Turkish (1877-1878) and Russian-Japanese (1904-1905) wars, and a prominent watercolour artist and monument designer.
Bilderling’s works were reproduced in the magazines “Niva”, “World Illustration”, and the newspaper “New Time”. Since 1880, Bilderling participated in exhibitions of the Society for Exhibitions of Art Works (1880, 1882), the Society of Russian Watercolor Painters (1885–1901), and the Society of Art Lovers (1886).
