Painted in the Western style, the icon represents the Mother of God depicted bust-length with Child Christ seated in an upright position on her left arm, his right hand is raised in benediction. With her left hand the Virgin points towards her son as path of salvation, her head is gently inclined. The main image is flanked by the figures of four family saints depicted on the borders: St.Nikifor (top left), St.Alexander (lower left), St.John (top right), St.Nicholas (lower right)

 

The icon is encased in a fine repoussé silver-gilt oklad, chased with floral motif and descriptive white enamel plaques; the halo is adorned with rock crystal, the vestments of four family saints are made of silver filigree.
