A silver-gilt, plique-à-jour and cloisonné enamel cigarette case decorated on both sides with a Russian Imperial double-headed eagle in plique-a-jour enamel, surrounded by polychrome scrolling foliage on a stippled ground.
Alexander Benediktovich Lyubavin was a Russian silversmith and merchant active in the 1850s, owner of a factory at Nevsky Prospect 31. In 1893 Lyubavin bought the factory of F. Heinrichsen at Grafsky Lane, 2. In 1907, the firm passed to his son, Court silversmith Nikolai Alexandrovich Lyubavin. The firm was awarded Gold Medals at the Fairs of Nizhni Novgorod (1896) and Stockholm (1897).
