This work will be included in the forthcoming Gustave Loiseau catalogue raisonné currently being prepared by Didier Imbert.

Between 1901 and 1929, Gustave Loiseau made at least five visits to Dieppe, a small fishing port on the coast of Normandy, where he painted numerous views of the town and its environs, capturing different perspectives, various weather conditions and changing lights from different times of the day. The landscapes were painted in a bold, spontaneous manner, characterised by luminous colour and short, interlocking brushstrokes, creating an intricate, lattice-like structure.
