The front side of the egg is painted with an image of St Nicholas of Myra within a foliated rococo cartouche. St Nicholas is shown wearing his bishop’s attire: a yellow mitre and chasuble with white omophorion. His right hand is raised in a gesture of benediction, while in his left hand he holds a book of Gospels. The reverse is painted with a pear in a similar frame. The sides are ornamented with stylised flowers.
