Philipp Peter Roos1655 – 1706

Philipp Peter Roos was born into an artistic dynasty that originated in Frankfurt. His father, Johann Heinrich Roos (1631-1685), was a highly successful painter and etcher. The elder Roos’s pastoral idylls introduced a Baroque style of landscape and animal painting into Germany, a style that he passed on to his son, Philipp, whom he taught to paint from a young age.
