Gustav Fabergé founded the House of Fabergé in 1841 in St.Petersburg. The manufacturer achieved international fame as the leading jeweller, silversmith, and fabricator of objets d’art of its age, particularly under the leadership of Gustav’s son Peter Carl (1846-1920). Its most famous items are the exquisite eggs designed for the Russian Tsars between 1885 and 1918. Alongside their imperial commissions, the company developed a wide range of exceptional silverware.
