Morozov was one of the most prominent porcelain artists working at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg. Originally, the factory produced wares exclusively for the Romanov royal family and the Russian Imperial court; in the early 19th century, however, it began producing a new range of porcelain items for the consumer market. Military themes proved popular in this regard. By the end of the nineteenth century the Imperial Porcelain Factory was renowned as one of the finest manufacturers in Europe, its reputation founded upon the exceptional quality of its products.
